CONNECTED SYSTEMS / GRADUATION PROJECT
Vehicles in conversation.
A vehicle-to-everything graduation project combining embedded hardware and a central TCP server. Technically supported by Valeo and graded Excellent.
The context
The system connected vehicles to a server so that location, speed, and OBD data could inform warnings for nearby drivers. The project ran from August 2018 to July 2019.
How the system came together
- The client combined a Raspberry Pi TCP client with an ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller over UART.
- The microcontroller interfaced with a GPS module and an OBD2 logger.
- A C#/.NET TCP server received vehicle information and distributed relevant warnings.
- Implemented use cases included roadworks warnings, emergency brake warnings, traffic light status, and parking management.
The bigger picture
The project brought together the full path from sensor data to communication between vehicles: embedded interfaces, networking, and application logic.
